Paint change in µm: minus is clear coat removed, plus is film added. One µm is a thousandth of a millimeter; a human hair is about 70. Prices are demo prices for a fictional shop.
Same hood. Same lamp.
Drag the lamp. On the left is the swirled paint as it arrived; on the right, the same panel after a two-step correction.

Demo images, generated for a fictional shop.
Cars come in the way boats do.

The shop is a former boat-repair hangar on a Cape Coral canal. The habits came with the building: log it, photograph it, measure it, then work.
Florida is hard on paint. Sun, salt air, sand and a daily rain shower do their work every year, so we start by finding out how much clear coat you have left and plan around that.
There is one car in the bay at a time, and the person who quotes the job is the person who does it.
Walk-around under the lamp
Every panel is photographed and logged with you present, so nothing is a surprise later.
Paint reading
We put the gauge on each panel and write the numbers down. They decide what is safe to polish.
Written scope
Price, hours and what is not included, on paper before anyone touches the car.
The work
One car in the bay. Panels are re-read after any polishing step.
Handover
We show you the finish under the lamp first, then in the sun outside the door.

Notes from the bay.
Short, practical, written by whoever did the work.
OCT 2026Why we measure paint before we polishA thousandth of a millimeter decides whether a polish is safe.
Read the note +
Factory paint on most cars is roughly 90 to 140 microns thick, and the clear coat is only the top third of that. A single aggressive polish can take 5 microns or more.
On a repainted panel the reading can be three times higher or, worse, much lower. Without the gauge you are guessing. With it, you know which panels can take a two-step and which should only get a light finish.
SEP 2026Ceramic coating or wax in Cape Coral sunWax is a few weeks. Ceramic is years. The catch is the prep.
Read the note +
Carnauba wax feels good and lasts roughly a month in Florida heat. A ceramic coating is a hard, thin layer bonded to the clear coat and resists UV and salt far longer.
The catch is that it seals whatever is under it, so the paint has to be clean and corrected first. That is where most of the labor, and most of the price, really goes.
AUG 2026What paint protection film does and does not coverFilm takes the hit. A coating takes the shine.
Read the note +
Clear film absorbs rock chips, bug acid and light abrasion, and its top layer heals light scratches with heat from the sun. A coating does none of that.
Film does not make the car invincible and it does not hide existing damage: we correct the paint first, then lay the film over a clean surface.
